Re: [RC] Robert E. Lee Re his mount Traveller - Howard Bramhall

When I first purchased my Saddlebred, Dance Line, like 7 or 8 years ago, I joined the American Saddlebred Horse Association. They sent me all kinds of junk, and one of them was a flyer on Traveller, Robert E. Lee's horse.

Of course, I cannot for the life of me find that flyer now, but, I do remember them saying Traveller was a Saddlebred.  I wonder if he was as tall as Dance Line?

I've never heard anyone say Traveller "gaited". As a matter of fact I

I've always heard that Traveller was gaited.  In fact I recently visited Lee's grave and Traveller is buried within a few yards of Lee. The tour guide even mentioned that Traveller was thought to be a saddlebred or walker cross.
