You might also could get a trashcan and put your hay in and get your weedeater and have a go at it. I used to do this to mulch leaves for my garden.Course you'd have to play around with the amount to do at a time.
Laurie and Rascal(who likes to raid the garden, where only flowers and carrots grow now)

For any one interested in the idea of grinding up their hay- if there isn't a place that will grind it for you get a "vac & mulch" at the local home improvement store (home depot type store). I had a friend with an elderly horse that had to do this & it worked. Feed the hay in slowly so as not to clog the grinder. The bag will hold about 2 flakes.
