Re: [AERC-Members] [RC] BLM adoptions at rides. - sharp penny

I'm pretty unclear as to what AERC has to lose by this
potential association with BLM...All I can see is the gain
of support to help keep BLM land open to AERC for their
use. It also gives AERC another strong voice in the
political arena when trail issues surface. To me BLM is
the one not gaining much....we are not really endorsing BLM
just giving them a place to showcase BLM horses and their
cause. Much like AERC isn't endorsing Sundowner as THE
TRAILER, just giving them a venue to show off their
trailers. As a consumer, when I was looking for a new
trailer I checked out Sundowners but based my final choice
on research and not because AREC endorsed them.

Take out all the emotional arguments..ie; unfair to
purebred breeders, BLM horses are unfit, unhealthy and not
worth much as riding horses and all the other subjectional
nonscence that some are ranting about and give us FACTS as
to why AERC partnering with BLM is so horrid. The only
post I've seen thus far that is non emotional and fact
filled is Randy's. Sorry Heidi, although I know this is an
issue your are obviously very passionate about (and I do
applaud that heart felt passion), it looks like to me Randy
has thought this through and presents some very valid
points in supporting an alliance with BLM.

Sounds like by bringing in a few mustangs to AERC rides
that WANT and are equipt to handle them for viewing and
potential adoption will give AERC members a chance to see
these horses and visit with the BLM representitives (and an
ear to express whatever concerns you have to). It also
gives *new to the sport* people that came just for the
adoption to visit with AERC members and learn what is
desirable in a good endurance horse and may spike an
interest in endurance whether they decide to adopt or not.
Isn't this what we want, to educate for the betterment of
both organizations?

I disagree that AERC stands to gain very much from this
particular alliance,
and I am highly disappointed that you fail to see what it
stands to lose.

Heidi
