[RC] Re:[RC]Smart horse? Or just foolish? - Patsy Davis

The people are the foolish ones.  The mare is a HORSE, she is afraid, confused and has no idea why she is being abused in this way.  As Mr Holland said, she is in a position that would make her easy prey in the wild and that is uppermost on her mind.  "Breaking" her in this way seems a poor excuse for "training",  just my opinion.  Your instincts are correct.  She could hurt herself severely.

Can anyone help?  There is a paint horse at the barn that used to be reasonable on the cross ties.  A week ago, she reared, hit her head on the ceiling and flipped backwards.  Since then she's been difficult to cross tie, lead, or single tie.  They've tied her to an immovable breeding fence for three days now and she's still not learning to stand calmly.  Instead, she's short circuiting (can't blame her) and just abusing herself.
