Re: [RC] Being Forced to Do An LD - Tina Hicks

Well when your horse is amongst 50 or more of his closest friends he may
tend to get a little high spirited even if that's not his normal nature
:) Starting at the back or after the group helps but your horse
still knows that the entire camp just went That Away.

If you've done your homework (and it sounds like you have), your horse
will likely do fine. Just
remember that that they are herd animals; they come to a ride and
become part of big new herd. Everyone's fit and excited on ride
morning
compounded by all the riders being a bit excited; then all at once the
herd starts moving in the same direction, in some cases at a high rate of
speed. If you keep this in mind you won't be so shocked when your horse
acts a bit different at the start of ride than at home.

He is a Arab, & has acted up but, is punished by either backing
or doing small circles. Do endurance horses end up being
out of control on rides? I want to be in control! If he gets upset
to bad. I would not want to risk him getting injured by not being
in control.
