[RC] [Guest] Getting a horse to use his hindquarters - Ridecamp Moderator

Carol Mittie fisnw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Kristi,

If this were my horse, I would have him seen by a chiropracter. He may be "locked up" from his past injury. We have had a horse who fell at the beginning of the ride season and then spent the summer gettin pulled, until we had him adjusted. I would also start to lunge him in side reins. This can be a terrific way to get a horse to move correctly, although it is extremely boring for the person. If done right, a horse can change their top line within a couple of months. Then he would have the muscles to carry a rider in the same frame.
