Re: [RC] overridden and fit to continue - Layla

Hi all,

It worries me a great deal to read that vets may base their decisions on what they either perceive or know to be a rider's level of experience instead of a professional and unbias analysis of the horse's symptoms. As endurance riders we think of ourselves (often rightly) as experts on our horse's physical and mental health. We watch and interact with them on an intimate level and for great lengths of time day in and day out; gauging their every movement, posture and expression as normal or abnormal. Sometimes, we may take this understanding of our horse too far and interrupt rather than supplement what should be an objective examination of our horse, for after all, that's why the vets are there, aren't they?

Layla, MW.
