My opinion is that you are missing one half of the Yin-Yang deal.Never say never,in other words.A time and place for everything.Example:My field trial bird dogs are EXTREMELY sensitive females.A field trial dog with a low,fearful tail wins nothing.My girls' tails are up!But they did not become the outrageously bold,independant, and joyful little creatures they are without experiencing a few "negatives" along the way,mostly from a VERY carefully applied and carefully adjusted electric collar.I follow ridecamp because it is a balanced and knowledgeable group.The world is full of unrideable horses,owned by neurotic clinic junkies that haven't the moral courage to WHACK 'EM ! My sister shocked me one time when she slapped a VERY young toddler on the back of the hand.But it was short,swift,and soon over.That kid is a patent attorney now,with 2 wonderful,happy kids of her own.Those kids know their mommy loves 'em.But she whacks 'em.
