Re: [RC] Fwd: from horsemanofftopic - Beet Pulp Pellets Toxic? - Heidi Smith

This question has been forwarded from HorsemanOffTopic list. Anyone have
any thoughts on toxicity of beet pulp processing?

Toxic chemicals are used in processing many of the foods we eat every day.
The only problem would be if the toxic chemicals were still IN the
foods--and they aren't. I don't know much about the sugar extraction
process, but if you eat maraschino cherries, keep in mind that they are
processed with formaldehyde... :-) But no, it isn't still in there when
they get to your plate. So really, it isn't relevant what was used in
processing--only what is left afterward. And I agree--not only are the
mills very careful about such things since selling bad feed is bad for
business, but there are also pretty stringent quality controls in place
legally regulating such things.
