[RC] Which girth for Aussie saddle? - Penny Trinca

HI, I'm a lurking newbie. Have to work hard on our trail "behavior" before
we can enter even an LD. I just bought (on ebay) a Syd Hill National
Endurance saddle, and I'm hoping it is not too narrow for my arab x
connemara mare. She has withers, but they're none to sharp. My english
saddle kept sliding to the belly-side when I'd try to get on. Perhaps a
mounting block is in order :) Anyway, as per the last post about the billets
being wider, what kind of girth should I get? I'm SOOOO confused by the
literature. Neoprene? Mohair? Contoured? Wool flocked? Felt lined? I'd also
like to hear your thoughts on pads. What's a skito pad? I've heard gel pads
develop hot spots, again, felt, wool, synthetic, or foam? I've browsed the
archives, and enjoyed the saddle review, but didn't find anything on pads or
girths. Thanks for your help and for you all being so willing to share your
thoughts and advice.
