Re: [RC] [RC] Where oh where????????????? - Laurie Durgin

Well, you could try here.(Atlanta metro.) There are a couple trail areas (official) like some state parks, Kennnasaw mt. Conyers Horse park. Pay is pretty good in some metro countys for teachers (or some private schools). Weather is pretty good.(we do have some Florida days , hot humid in July /Aug.) > Course Atlanta is a huge growing spider. I ride out my back door, but don't know how long that will be here (subdiv growing at huge rate. The traffic isn't fun, but year round riding. And if it ices or snows (bout every other year, everyone leaves work early, buys bread and stays home. )
Lots of ,"you can kinda do what ya what attitude. Especially if 'further out". I have seen one snake in about 3 years riding. It was a gopher snake.
Land can be had from 1,500-2500 (near the farming areas to 5000-15,000 in outer metro areas. I bought my land for about 3500$ acre 8 yrs. ago , now the tax collecters tell me it's worth 10,000 acre and it has power lines on it. (only 5 acres).
Cost of living is pretty good here. Some of the lowest gas prices in country, housing , near national norm.(YOu can still buy a new small house under 85,000. Of course the further 'out ' you go ,the cheaper andything is.
ga. has 5 irdes I think a yer, near enough to Fl to dirive in a day. All of Tenn, Ky, S> C and some of Nc. are within a days drive.
We don't have hurricanes! (we rarely get some of their rain though,)Southerners are nice, they talk to you in the grocery line :} Laurie /Rascal/Honey/Scout

Speaking strictly from my point of view, North Florida
is a great place to ride. You have quite a few rides
during the fall / winter / spring months. Yes, it can
get hot here....90+, but we've found if we ride in the
early morning, it's not too bad. Also, the night
riding can be a lot of fun.

However...on the down side, Florida is not known for
making teachers rich. Our teachers are some of the
lowest paid in the nation. Have you thought about
maybe someplace around Atlanta, GA?
