Re: [RC] [RC] Let's just give everyone an award.... - Cindy Collins

It's a lot more fun to make stupid generalizations, stick your foot in your mouth, take it personally and then go ride (thanking God that you don't have to live near any of these people who are ticking you off with their whining)...after you've volunteer instructed 10 hours a week in a therapuetic riding program, taught, re-taught and re-taught again social skills to the severely emotionally disturbed children you teach for a living, coached three Special Olympics sports, put hundreds of hours a year in trying to save and mark and unmark a 100 mile single loop trail that predated AERC and is 34 years old...with about 10 helpers (vs. 500 at Tevis), ride your own horses, love your husband and friends,  deal with your ongoing medical problems, etc.  We can all have a pity party, but the point is I still don't ride endurance for awards or recognition, although I love them as much as any one else. Sorry if some people don't understand, it's their loss.  Instrinsic, internal local of control and motivation are tough to understand if you don't have them.  Cindy

How about the "Restrain Yourself" award, for the amount of times you tell yourself,"I am not going to say anything,I am not going to say anything; I will not put my foot in my mouth; I will not make stupid generalizations; I will not 'take it personally"; I will go out and ride instead (assuming it is not raining, you are not recovering from a ride injury, your horse is not lame, sick, or rehabing or( In my case today you didn't have to run 3 children 6 different places and go shopping for 5 hours).(And I am going to bribe my son to feed the horses, cause I have to take another child home', Ice cream should do the trick.:} Wish I was blazing down the trail--- in my dreams .(I will get up early tomorrow and ride two though!!!
