[RC] [Guest] LD 's, the financial aspect - Ridecamp Guest

Susan Reid susan.reid@xxxxxxxxxx

Not that it's going to make a difference but...

If the LD rides were to get on the same footing as other distances, I would
happily jump up when called for a 1000 mile award.

It going to take me 40 completed rides to get to 1000 miles. That's a lot
of planning, days off, packing, fuel, and healthy horse. I usually pay
about $65/ride, which totals to $2600. No complaints here but maybe I could
get an award for the endurance wallet!

If you are a successful 100 miler, it takes "only" 10 rides to get to 1000
miles. At about $65 per ride, that's $650.

It's good that there are some of us career LDer's. We help support the
rides financially and have some energy after we're done to help the ride
management (after my nap that is).

I ride in the SE and don't feel any bias at all towards the distance I ride.
I would like to see the process standardized but I do just fine with the way
we do it now. I can usually move up several places in the P& R because my
horse's HR drops quickly. If I had to race to place, I probably wouldn't.

See you on the trail.
