[RC] [RC] [Guest] Horse blanket cleaning and repairing - Ridecamp Guest

Laurie Durgin

I repair some for people who know I do it.I don't advertise. I do it on my
Riccar700 I bought 19 years ago.(one repair/ couple of throat plates).It
could sew thru 12 layers of denim thats why I bought it. It isn't hard to
fix light to medium sheets and blankets, I have done some thick ones ,but
it bogs down some. What will fit under the pressor foot is my depth limit. I
use quilting thread usually. I hve sewn some leather/vynal patches and nylon
strapping.I have been able to replace sycingles, and some buckles, or the
plastic snap together ones.
I charge minimum 7.50 and usually repairs run about 15-20.00 plus parts.
(If it fits in my washer I charge 5.00 to wash it. ). I don't know if it's
worth 4,000$ investment,I have thought about buying a used one and doing it
too, buuuttt, I don't think I want to fix blankets that much ,that
often.(visions of sweat shops, basement full of dirty horse blankets, the
dogs "marking '" them ,that kind of night mare. . . )
