You can connect the two with electrical wiring that has that plastic coating over the wire. The only purpose for this cable is to keep the 2 rein connectors even. The cable wire isn't supposed to come into contact with the horse at all.

The wire shouldn't be touching the horse. The noseband is what is critical in it's placement if the thing is to work properly. The corner of the noseband should be about 1.5 inches above the corner of the mouth so that it give adequate control and pressure to the nose. If you fit it this way, the wire should not even be close to the horse.

I use the 2 finger rule here fitting the chain. Hope this helps
