Myonly suggestion is to try a Wintec PVC waffle weave girth. I use all types
of girths and cinches and they are all made of this PVC waffle weave type
material. I had trouble with every other type of girth material that I tried
but not this stuff. It is not neoprene. It lests the sweat flow out from
underneath, won't grab the skin, won't absorb sweat and is soft. It may help
your horse after the gall is better.

Anybody have any good tips/advice for dealing with girth gals?

My new horse is a bit overweight and getting fit but is a very easy
keeper.....We have tried neoprene (ripped him open) and soft fleece (works
50% of the time). I ride in a BM treeless with dressage girth (converted it
to english rigging). We give him time off to heal up when it opens up but
then is ok for a few rides, then opens up again. We try to set the girth
back but with his fat tummy, it goes forward sometimes. Does he just need to
work thru this and that area toughen up with time? We put a large slab of
vaseline on area before riding, neosporine after ride. His body is changing
quite a bit since the past owners didn't ride him alot and fed him TOO much
grain (food=love?). Crupper didn't help--his belly made it slide forward,
while the saddle stayed back. Any tips?
