Re: [RC] Stupid Question - Yearling and Bug Spray - JANUSTUDIOTamara, I answered your former question, but everyone else did such a great job, I just deleted mine. . .<g> If there is any way possible, watch some of Clinton Anderson's tapes. He does a wonderful job expressing 'how to', from the youngsters to the older horses. He is on RFTV, and I really get a lot from his sessions. He is easy to understand and breaks everything down into small steps. To get your horse to stand still so you can do his rump, just step towards his hip in a non threatening way and do it the same way you did his front end. When you are asking him to back away and maintain your space, your attitude should be different from when you are approaching him in a friendly way. If he trys to circle away, just go with him as before and just keep misting until he settles. Keeping both eyes on you isn't important at this stage. After all, you don't want him looking at you with both eyes as you mount do you? <g> Good luck! Same goes with the clippers. Just desensitize him to them without them on first, rubbing them everywhere you will be clipping. Again, just go with him until he settles, then praise. Just one step at a time and before you know it, he will be standing contentedly while you have your way with him. . .
