[RC] fly control - Andrea Day

I HATE flies!

Has anyone tried using borax or DE (diatomaceous earth) sprinkled on the
manure pile?

While researching this on the net, I've found a couple of sites that
advertise DE as a feed through for horses. Do any of you out there use
it
this way? Does it work? Are there any problems? What quantity? Is there a
brand you recommend? Where's the best place to purchase?

One site also recommended dusting it in the coat, avoiding the head.
Make
sense?

I don't want to use pesticides, but I don't want my horses dropping off
in
condition or brusing feet from stomping on rocky ground from aggravating
horn and stable flies. Not to mention, they drive me to distraction
also.
The horseflies screw up conditioning rides when they pick up the horse!

Thanks
Andrea
