Re: [RC] Trailer windows - too big? - Typef

YEARS ago, when I was showing as a teenager, my friend brought her Mustang
along. We left him in the trailer and all of a sudden we heard this horrible
banging noise. We ran out there to find that he'd climbed over the manger
and into the tack room. We had to let him out through the tack room door.
The trailer did not have any bars or doors between the manger and the tack
room. Fortunately, he was a narrow little dude. If he'd been my QH, we'd
have never gotten him out!

I have a friend whose filly was in training and was being
shown as a 2 year old. Her trainer had her at a show in the
trailer in a parking lot. (This filly is a QH btw.)
Something either spooked her or she was maybe stung by a
bee and leaped through the open drop down window (no
bars/screens) and thank goodness a bystander had the good
sense to reach over and unclick her panic snap on her
halter. She fell out onto the pavement, THROUGH the open
window. Hard to believe, but I know it happened. They are
now firm believers in bars over the window openings.

I have a Logan Shadow, three horse slant load, with the
big drop down windows & screens. I had taken the dividers
out of the trailer as soon as I got it home after I
bought it. I do put fly masks on my horses. Haven't had
any problems nor heard of any.
