[RC] [Guest] saddle fit - Ridecamp Guest

On Behalf Of Barbara McCrary

The white spots are caused by some pressure in the past. I question whether
the saddle of his harness would have caused this, but I suppose it's
possible. My guess would be from a saddle and rider's weight at the riding
stable. As for the dry patches, that's typical, because the white spots are
a result of damaged hair follicles and nerves caused by the pressure, and
because of the damage to his hide and nerves, that area will always be dry.
I may have not expressed the clinical cause of the damage very well, but
I've experienced this in some of our horses over the years, and I know the
results. We still have one horse that has that damage. It was caused by a
poor-fitting saddle on one 50-mile ride. After the saddle was removed,
patches on his shoulders welted badly. Days and days later, the skin became
parchment-like, peeled, left pink skin, and white hairs grew back in. He
will carry that white patch to his grave. The saddle I now have for him
seems to fit, and no further reactions take place, except that there is a
dry spot where the while hairs are.
