Re: [RC] truck lengths - Susan Garlinghouse, DVM

I have a 2WD dually and used it to pull a 40' GN LQ trailer with no
problems. On the highway, stable as all get out, even in a high crosswind.
However, after moving to Colorado, I sure got a wake-up call about traction.
Even after loading a ton of gravel into the bed and putting on studded
tires, that sucker ice skates in snow and ice. Driving sideways down the
interstate loses its charm in a hurry, lemme tell ya. I bought a Subaru
Outback AWD that sticks to the road like velcro no matter WHAT the
conditions and the dually stays parked in the driveway until spring.

I have a Chevy dually and wouldn't have anything else. I do hwever wish
that
it was a 4x4 model because it does tend to get stuck easy. I currently use
it to haul a 35 foot, six horse, with living quarters, all made with
steel.
I also use it to haul a ton of horse feed every two weeks. I can't use
anything smaller.

If you are planning to do a lot of heavy moving, there is nothing better
than the big trucks. If not, a 3/4 ton 4x4 would be a better truck, both
for
a more comfortable ride and better gas mileage.

David in Ohio with lots of horses.
