Re: [RC] For June Carter Cash Fans - Truman Prevatt

This is a sad passing indeed. The Carter Family was almost single handily responsible for the development of the truly American folk music, based on the transformation of the tunes of our Scotch Irish ancestors. June's mother Maybelle famous "Carter Lick" was the first focus of the guitar as a lead instrument. It is no accident that the Carters were the first inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Some credit June Carter for saving Johnny Cash from his wicked, wild ways. It's ironic that he survives her.

This is the passing of a legend - a pioneer of establishing an identity in this country when it was sorely needed. Of course it brings forth the question, "Will the Circle be unbroken........."

Dear RideCampers:

June Carter Cash passed away this evening at 5:04 p.m. due to complications from heart surgery. As Mr. Cash's web site administrator, I thought that I would pass the information on to anyone who might have been. Those that would like to send Mr. Cash a card may do so at:

The House of Cash
700 Johnny Cash Parkway
Hendersonville, TN 37075

John and June were inseperable and with John's given health problems, those close to him know it will be tough for him to go on.

Thank you,
Jackie
