Guard) doing low-level training flights over our forest occasionally, but it's usually late at night. One evening last summer I checked out some new trails and got caught in the dark. As my horse trotted along in the dusk, a helicopter roared overhead just above the tops of the pines. My horse reacted, but it happened so fast, all he had time to do was stop and crouch. My 15.2h gelding flattened into a wide-based creature about 13h tall. To anyone watching he probably looked like a big red hairy toad. <G> Then he straightened up, gave a long, deep snort, and we continued on.
