[RC] Frank Hopkins revised - Maryanne Stroud Gabbani

A while back, some people were asking about Frank Hopkins who was supposed to be a famous endurance rider around the turn of the century, claiming to have done, among other deeds, a 3 thousand mile race in Arabia in 1890. The Longriders' Guild, a group of riders who have traveled significant distances on horseback (http://www.thelongridersguild.com), and whose members include a number who will be well-known on Ridecamp, began to investigate to see if the late Mr. Hopkins qualified for membership in the Guild. Unfortunately, a number of problems were found in trying to validate his unpublished memoirs. None of this would matter except that now Disney has made a movie starring the delicious Viggo Mortensen that claims to record the "true" story of Frank Hopkins as detailed in the memoirs. This is now stirring some controversy. You can follow it at http://www.arabnews.com/Article.asp?ID=26095 and on the Longriders site. Interesting.
