RE: [RC] florida - Teri Hunter

Susan,

I live in Tampa.  Our endurance season is from usually Oct through April.  We ride in the summer and winter.  We don't have a fall or spring here and if we do you don't notice them.  Just like people you have to get use to the weather.  The humidity in the summer is the problem.  Ride early in the morning or in the evening.  I know some that ride in the mid day when it is hot.  You can get a lot of information about rides at FERA (Florida Endurance Riders Association).

Hope this helps.

Teri

I have a question, does anyone live in the Tampa/St.Pete area? I thinking of moving there from the midwest. I want to know about the weather, good areas to live and horse boarding. People have told me that the best season to ride endurance is the winter months because the summers are very hot and humid. How does this effect a horses life and can you ride in the summer months?
