[RC] funny ride story-short - Jennifer Judkins

Hi all.  Out with the crew on Sunday.  Here in the Northeast, cold (20's), recently sleet/snow, mostly ice pack and thin snow.  I decided Manny was better off barefoot than with boots (after our slip sliding ride last week-like Bambi on ice).  I was right.  However, since he was alittle leary of the hard ground, he stuck to the softer edges of the road/trail.  Which in general I don't mind.  Makes me feel he is pretty smart under the circumstances.  Anyway, we're riding along at a 'gentle' canter along the side of an icey road, I'm doing preventative blocking of the most obvious tree limbs over on the soft side of the road, when I noticed a large unmoving limb coming my way.  Way too late to manuveur;-(  Wham!  hit in the face!  So the limb plasters me over the back end of my horse, about to hit the ground, I'm clearly out of the saddle.  Manny slows...good boy....I manage to get some forward momentum, at the same time...I end up in front of the saddle on Manny's neck .  Here I am, giggling hysterically with legs and arms around my horses neck.  My friends, all eight of them and their horses are trying at this point to refrain from all out laughter, but slow to a walk.  I guide Manny to a soft spot and bail.  So I'm lying on the ground, still in fits of hysterical laughter, my horse is nuzzling me, trying to get me up off the ground, and I realize I have the BEST HORSE and BEST RIDING COMPANIONS a person has a right to.  The rest of the ride was virtually uneventful, except for Mike almost getting arrested for not wearing orange!  I LOVE THIS SPORT!  See you all  Noreasters at the 'January Thaw' in Vermont.  Jennifer.
