I buy my garlic powder in bulk from my grocery
store, Winco, for $1.69 a pound. This is the human grade. I made the
mistake once of buying it from State Line for $9.99 for only ONE
pound!!
I will always buy the human grade garlic powder -
it is the same thing for a small fraction of the cost.
Anyone know of any adverse side effects when fed to
pregnant mares?
I JUST bought the Bug-Off Garlic from Springtime
in the hopes of keeping flies off my horses. One of them is super
skin-sensitive and spraying her is not an option. It will be interesting to
see if it can do the trick. My barn sure smells like an Italian restaurant!
Anyone else using it? I had the same question in my mind about buying garlic
at Costco. Was going to go price it but haven't had the change
yet.
Is there an advantage of one brand over
another? Can I use the Garlic Powder I buy at Costco? (Haven't
compared prices yet, but I have some extra floating around).
My gelding is a tick magnet, and Lyme
Disease is a real problem around here. I asked my vet about
feeding powdered garlic, and he said to give it a try,
that it seems to work for some horses and not others.
Well, it worked for my guy. I used to
find multiple ticks on the tip of his tailbone and golf-balls
sized lumps (dripping blood and pus) near the groin. Now I
might find one tick on him per year!
Started out feeding garlic from Springtime
but later switched to ABC's garlic, and I give him one tablespoon at each of his two daily meals.
He would sift it out of his sweetfeed, but adding wetted
beetpulp took care of that problem.
