[RC] Horse smarts - Kristi Schaaf

Kathie -
The problem is that lots of people judge horse
intelligence by human standards and not horse
standards. Because we're predators and they're prey,
our versions of intelligence are very different.
Personally, I feel that horses are more intelligent
than humans if you put the two species on a comparison
basis. Until the 'natural' horsemanship wave came
about and we started really trying to understand our
horses, they were mostly expected to figure out what
humans were trying to communicate, instead of vice
versa. The fact that their species is better at
reading us than we are at reading them is enough proof
for me that they are 'smarter'!
