These juniors and their stories are going to put me out of business, that's
for sure.
The Ed that Jen mentions in her story is Ridecamp's Ed Kilpatrick. He
really was the hero of this ride. I don't think it was that long ago when,
like me, Ed was doing mostly LD's. For him to make the jump to 75 miles,
like he did, just so those entered could get the points they deserved, and
then actually finish the ride with a completion was something
you don't see everyday.
They withheld the award's that night until Ed came in. It really was
quite a show, with all of the folks walking, in the dark, over half a mile, to
the finish line to keep Nancy company and cheer Ed in. This kind of thing,
and you don't see it at every ride, just shows that AERC really is one big happy
family. Makes one proud to belong.
