All 7 my horses sleep out and because I don't have a groom, I MIGHT run a brush 
over them once a year ;-))  The horses all vary in colour, sex, "make" and 
size.  However, I have a very good vitamin and mineral supplement and all the 
horses shine like they are groomed 2 hours a day.  My next door neighbour's 
horses are indeed groomed 2 hours a day - showing and dressage - and there is 
no difference in the shine.  Even the two greys shine like new silver coins!  
When you pat them, huge clouds of dust will envelop you and the horse, but you 
wouldn't be able to tell that from just looking at them.
