Re: [RC] Broken stirrup bar on OF SD - Ed and Wendy HauserIf the stirup bars are the same design as on an OF endurance cutback, it it relatively easy to make replacements that are stronger than the original. Using the remains of the original piece of thin galvanized sheet steel as a pattern, bend a piece of thicker cold rolled steel using a hammer and a vice. When you have it to the proper shape, soft solder it together. This extra step will make the resultant bracket much stronger. Then drill the three holes, countersink and screw back to the tree. If this level of metal working is beyond your skills, look for a blacksmith, or machine shop to do everything but rescrewing to the tree. Over the years I have broken both mine, my first replacement has aboutr 600 end. miles (plus the associated training miles) and is fine.
