Re: [RC] [RC] alternative mane and tail shine - Susan GarlinghouseI already add oil on their concentrated food, but their manes and tails look, neglected, unhealthy, not shiny. The regular kind of oil you buy in the grocery store doesn't have the functional fatty acids that will help with hair shine, with the exception of virgin olive oil. If cold-pressed vegetable oils aren't available to you in your region, see if you can find whole flax seed. Add a cup or two of that to the ration per day. Additional biotin is also helpful, but you usually have to supply that through some sort of supplement, which may or may not be available in your area. You might also want to look at the amino acid profile of the ration, as protein deficiencies can also show up as a poor hair coat, as can a mineral imbalance. See if any of this rings a bell and let us know. Good luck!
