Re: [RC] [RC] Chicken Chase, Part Two (long) - Laurie Durgin

Waaallll, beats the heck out of being afraid of small rocks. clear trail, then there is a 1ft by 1 ft. rock in the middle. He stops or sidepasses. Finally I started saying "it's just a rock". Now when he gets ta lookin at somethin, tryin to decide to spook or not i say "oh, Rascal, it's JUST a rock. (Funny it looked like a burned out car to me, or was it the tent or the flying turkey?) To him it's all a lone rock out of place. No he doesn't spook at rocks on a rocky trail, just a "lone rock". Laurie and Rascal

No, he probably thinks the rock was an elephant seal! Many years ago, I
introduced one of my favorite horses, not usually a spooker, to the fine art
of beach patrol for the state park system. When he saw his first elephant
seal in a small sandy cove, he thought it was a large benign log. Then the
large log reared up, did his typical toot-toot sound, and scared the living
daylights out of my horse. Thereafter, all large rocks on the desert were
suspect. This horse never forgot, as long as he lived.
