I know that this is coming from an odd quarter, but I have to go with 
Truman.  Had a Black and Tan I bought from a farmer in east Texas for 
$35 years ago. Buick was the best guard of kids, livestock, even the 
cat, that I've ever seen.  He'd even babysit a 3 yr old on a tricycle 
and see that 1) the child didn't go into the street and 2) no one could 
walk on "his sidewalk".
