Re: [RC] what is the best dog to gueard horses? - Maryanne Stroud GabbaniI know that this is coming from an odd quarter, but I have to go with Truman. Had a Black and Tan I bought from a farmer in east Texas for $35 years ago. Buick was the best guard of kids, livestock, even the cat, that I've ever seen. He'd even babysit a 3 yr old on a tricycle and see that 1) the child didn't go into the street and 2) no one could walk on "his sidewalk".Maryanne Cairo On Thursday, Mar 20, 2003, at 01:41 Africa/Cairo, Truman Prevatt wrote: Oh my goodness, with all the Southerners on this list and no one has answered it right yet:-). Angie you should be ashamed of yourself for missing this one. The answer is obvious, you want a good hound dog. Preferably a Coon Hound (Blue Tick or Black and Tan) will do nicely. The other option for those that want a larger critter is a Blood Hound. Great dog with people, but will raise hell if something is amiss around the farm. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
