RE: [RC] eating electrolytes - Snodgrass, Bonnie

There's quite a bit of sugar and lemon flavoring in Perform N Win. That is
what attracts him. My horses are the same way. But as a friend found out,
NEVER count on your horses willingness to voluntarily consume electrolytes.
That's when they will turn their nose up at them. Plan on giving them what
you have determined that they need based on conditions. If they will consume
some of this mixed in a bucket of water great! But still know how much has
gone into them and how much more you want in them. Have your dosing syringe
handy.

Subject: [RC] eating electrolytes

I just recently starting using Perform N Win electrolytes. Today, after a
fairly short ride (although we were working in plowed fields some of the
time), I was messing around with my new guy and offered him some Perform N
Win electrolytes in my hand. He licked them all up. I scooped up another
palmful; he ate them all again. Another palmful; same deal. After three
scoops from my hand, he nosed my hand out of the way and started eating them

out of the bucket. This horse has free access to mineral salt and plain
salt
and this new Moorman's mineral block, but he was still just munching down on

the Perform N Win. So, my question is, does he actually need these
electrolytes if he's eating them? Or is it possible that he just likes the
taste? Can I leave out "free choice" Perform N Win for him at the rides, or

will he make himself sick?

Rhonda
