My farrier always leaves more shoe off the back feet; I always thought for extra support.? How much to you consider being too long...

I agree, Karen, on horses (I have a couple) who need the help with stability and support, I leave maybe  a quarter of an inch beyond.....the real problem is when someone leaves, say a half of an inch or more ON ONE SIDE in an attempt to make the horse appear to move straighter...that's where the real problem comes in.
