Re: [RC] Husband/Wife award motion - Michael MaulActually - independent of this motion - I had put on my calendar a reminder to email the families on this award on Sept. 1 so that they would be aware of the consequences of not planning carefully. It's a "hack" and depends on me doing this but the same reminder could be on the office calendar to notify all on the list to plan carefully or risk being disqualified. In the past, the office policy has been to disqualify the H/W pair, i.e. they are no longer eligible for the award, and will be automatically dropped from the standings if at any time one person has ridden more than half of the mileage of the other. This proposed motion would allow the H/W team to remain in competition for the award, but would eliminate the inclusion of points earned outside of the minimum mileage criteria. The motion should be more clear, and should include the entire awards description rather than just the proposed new wording. I'll see if I can get that corrected for the meeting so that at least the intent is clear. This award is based on POINTS. I believe that this change could be worded better so members would be aware of the intent. Also given a hypothetical; Rider A with 1500 miles and Rider B with 500 miles. Award will be made on total of 1500 miles. 1000 from rider A and 500 from rider B. Of these 1500 miles, 1000 are those ridden by A and B together. Now, since the award is on points, are the next 500 miles of rider A's to be of the highest finishes of the remaining 1000 or are they to be the lowest of the finishes? It could make a very great difference! Best let this motion die as the change is just because of a single perceived inequity in 2002.
