Don't panic Kristene!  Sounds like rabicano "roaning."
It's quite often in very small patches -- but can be
throughout the body as well -- with the flank & behind
the elbow being two of the most common locations, as
well as the tail head ("skunk tail").  It can be
extremely light (a few hairs) to enough to look like a
roan horse, and is the pattern responsible for those
few "roans" that the Registry registers as such. 
Light sprinklings are actually quite common in Arabs.
