Now...there you go Penny!  I thought the only thing you and I had in common were horses, endurance, fitness...wait, that's quite a lot isn't it?  Well, I agree with you here too.

Probably, poor Doc should have been put down immediately.  I realize the organization that was taking care of Doc may not have the money for litigation.  However, there is certainly a lawyer who could advise the organization on Doc's owner's responsibilities in the matter.  If the owner broke the law, the organization shouldn't be out any money; the vets and the sweethearts that took care of Doc in his last days would be witnesses.

If nothing else, I'd tell everyone I knew of that owner's negligence.  I'd say his name, business, and exactly what happened!  As long as everything is said in truth (especially the stuff that can be substantiated with some kind of proof), he can't successfully come back and sue for slander.
