At the Long Leaf 100, I was thrilled to have Joy Lynn Carlson crewing for
us (actually a rider I was riding with), she obviously knew ALL the
tricks.

First, she followed us on the roads, with only her running lights on,
then whenever cars came from the other direction, she switched on her
headlights so the car would see US.

Next, she waited for us at a very difficult road intersection where some
other riders actually gave up after they couldn't find where the trail
picked back up. She had her truck pointed TOWARDS the trail entrance,
and as soon as she saw us come out of the woods and switch on our lights
hunting markers, she hit the truck lights to show the trail.

I don't like for a truck to try to light the road from behind for
travel, it makes VERY scarey shadows for Kaboot to have to step on.

Now, about glow sticks. A friend of mine told me not to bother with
them, since they don't help THAT much, and they give riders behind you
incentive to catch up. I wasn't worried about that, considering that I'm
not all that competetive in 100's yet, I just passed on them to save
money....then, at Biltmore my Jr. was able to win first Jr. by keeping
tabs on the other one behind us...she had glow sticks on...and we stayed
VEWY VEWY QUIET! :-)

Angie & Kaboot (I can't see anything...SHHHH!)
