The USEF coach (Becky Hart) is recommending a 'deep seat' at the canter for training/competition as opposed to a 2-point seat.

now - the 'chair seat' is a little bit exaggerated - but the upper body position of some of these riders is not that far off. I honestly can't figure out how some can get their legs so far in front of them though! I've tried it, just to see how it feels, and it feels very strange and very precarious... and it only works on a horse that has settled in to the gait - not on a pulling horse.

Steve Rojek has (imo) the best canter seat I've ever seen - and I think that comes from the hours and hours of dressage he does with his horses. They just roll along-
