Re: [RC] sponging or not - Barbara McCrary

One year, while riding Tevis, my horse's energy was "dragging" upon approach of the Swinging Bridge.  I rode down to the river, pulled the saddle, and Cinnamon went into the river, lay down and rolled in the water.  It was so funny to see...  I then re-saddled him, mounted up, and we climbed out of the canyon with renewed enthusiasm.

Subject: [RC] sponging or not

Sponging whether hot or hot and humid has always given my horse a great pick me up.  At a vet check, picking up a bucket lid and fanning helps to cool too.  The best part of sponging is the water fights.  And it is fun to try to hit a puddle with the sponge while at an extended trot.  I figure this, one does what works for one's horse.  Period.  Jeanie
