That was the part I was referring to. As Ed says, "for as long as I can remember....". It's basically the same with beef. The Angus Association wants us all to believe that Angus beef tastes better than other beef, and I think this is one of the cleverest marketing ploys in a long time. But I don't believe it for an instant....

You are 100% right. They are both very pure sucrose. If one used modern analytical techniques, one probably could find trace impurities in the parts per million range that would allow distinction between them. As long as I can remember the cane sugar producers have been advertising that one should buy cane sugar (remember the jingle "pure cane sugar from Hawaii?"). My mother was always convinced that cane sugar was better tasting than beet sugar.
