RE: [RC] arabian skeletal formation - heidi

While there is a tendency for Arabs to have fewer lumbar and thoracic vertebrae, it varies.  The below is an excerpt of counts published by Lady Wentworth--hopefully the formatting will stay in place...

Eclipse--there were 6 skeletons of Eclipse offered for sale at one
time, and 19 hoofs. The skeleton in the British Museum is of more than
doubtful authenticity and has been reconstructed from fragments and
has now 18 ribs and 6 lumbars. An earlier one photographed by Wilfrid
Blunt had 17 ribs and 5 lumbars.

I was just reading and came across a little blurp that suggested that the arabian skeletal structure consists of 17 ribs, 5 lumbar bones, and 16 tail vertebrae. Other breeds compared at 18-6-18.  Any one know if this is a true statement or a wifes tale?
