[RC] Trailer towing - ranch

"...rodeo grounds with a big, heavy car pulling ..."

If you were doing this before about 1975 these big heavy cars shared the
same frame, engine, and brakes as a half ton pickup of the era. They
were rated with adequate towing capacity for a 2 horse trailer. No they
were not ideal, but they were much more suited for towing than
automobiles of today.

By the way, when I was young, automobiles did not have seat belts. Even
endurance riders did not use helmets. Chemists routinely heated Benzene
(cancer) over open flames. People smoked when and wherever they wanted.
Vermiculite containing asbestos was mined in Libby, MT in such a manner
that it contaminated the whole town. The Cuyahoga river routinely
caught fire in Cleveland, OH.

While I am not a big fan of much of the modern changes in our culture,
many old practices were actually very dangerous and unsafe. We were
lucky to survive.
