Wear orange and I also use orange reins and tie some orange ribbon on  
my horse.  Teddy at Running Bear sells a wonderful orange reflective  
vest with slots for glow bars, too.  Most folks hunt elk from horses  
around here and are used to seeing horses.  If I see hunters or  
recreational shooters or folks sighting in their rifles, I always try  
to either speak to them or wave to let them know I'm out there.  My  
biggest fear is out-of-staters who don't always know the difference  
between a horse and an elk :(  There are idiots everywhere, of  
course.  My family hunts, too, as do many other ridecampers out  
there.  We just have to all share the land appropriately even when  
it's inconvenient and sometimes a bit scary.
