RE: [RC] used truck recommendation - Maryben Stover

The only problem with the Dodges is wiring.  It totally sucks.  But that is sooooo minor compared to what could go wrong.............mb

Another happy Dodge Cummins owner here. I bought a 1995 3/4 ton a few years ago that had 206K miles already. Just broken in is what I figured. Plus it came with an ugly peeling paint job so I don't worry so much about the little bumps and scratches. So far, so good and we are over 240K now. Hauled from FL to CA to WY and back home last summer on the Tevis-that-turned-into-the-Big-Horn trip without any major problems (light switch melted down thanks to Dodge's great idea of recalling the full tons for that issue but not the 3/4 tons that had the same switch and the AC lost its freon but hey, it's got a few years on it!). If I have to replace that truck I would not hesitate to go for another one.

I love my 1992 Dodge Cummins. Dudley, as in Do Right, has and is a wonderful, reliable truck. He is at the machanics now getting some new wiring. Computer is bad as far as the volt meter so the mechanic is trying to fix him without having to replace the computer. Tis is the Lords hands. No complaints. Would love a 1998 or newer but no money. Dudley has just over 200,000 miles on him. The Cummins is Wonderful. Beccy in Utah

Dodge Diesel, Cummins engine.  My 1993 is still going strong.........mb

My husband loves his 2001 Dodge 4x4 with that  Cummins diesel and I love the power, but ours has always had excessive play in the steering.  We've spend thousands trying to make it steer straight.  He doesn't mind at all and it scares me spitless.  When I drove it down from Southern Oregon to the Redwood Ride I thought I was going to have someone break my clenched fingers from the steering wheel. I can't drive it without hyperventilating.  I'm looking for another truck just so I can be more independent (always my goal on every level).
