I know i am walking on eggs with this subject:

I'm a foreigner and live on the East coast and have done about 20+ rides from LD to 100 and CTR.

I have never seen a rider without an helmet, except for once in ridecamp the day prior to the ride and the rider got asked to dismount until he had an helmet on.

I was at the NC last year I did not see one rider without an helmet.

Is that more a tendency to ride without an helmet on the west coast?

I actually can't see what the big deal is about having to wear an helmet, but this is only me. When I read that usually riders riding without an helmets are better riders, it automatically make me think of Mary Lutz or Meg Wade.

To me riding with an helmet is like putting on shoes around horses, it's just common sense. (not saying i do it all the time but 99% yes I do)

Anyway, I DO NOT WANT to create a whole fire, I just want to understand better.

Thanks.
