[RC] Strangles in SE region - rides2farcan keep popping up. Some of the big barns give all the horses antibiotics if any of the horses get sick, just to prevent this. What I read said this would just delay symptoms, they'd be protected until they went off the antibiotics and then get it. If you were *sure* you got away from the contaminant it would help, but if they would still be exposed after they got off it would not. Again, taking a temp gave you a jump on everything. If your horse's temp jumped.. (103 I think was what they said) you separate that one quickly *before* it starts spreading it.
