[RC] Mongol derby and the sport of endurance - Jonni

Here is the issue that I see, that CAN have an effect on our endurance riding, and AERC. This ride is getting some world wide attention, billed with the word ENDURANCE often attached to it. When they start killing horses (not "if", but WHEN) and it continues to be called an endurance race, what will Joe Q Public think when they here an endurance ride is taking place near them? It is not just to protect the Mongolian horses, which as mentioned, are not thought of much more than a tool, and symbol of status and wealth at times, but to protect the IMAGE of the sport of endurance riding as WE know it.
